What is RADIO JOJO2K?

This is a passion project for me to share the intersection between two of my loves: music and technology. I host this station using a virtual private server and spend some of my free time seeking new tracks to add to the rotation.

What kind of content is featured?

There's video game soundtracks, covers of video game music, remixes of video game music (are you sensing a pattern?)... but it doesn't stop there!

A lot of similar streams stick only to video game music, but there are also songs related to anime, tech and general "nerd/internet culture" throughout the ages in the playlist.

Any plans for updates/different content?

Yes! I will definitely continue to add more tracks, for one. In addition, I am working on creating schedules and bumpers to make it feel more like an actual station. Planned features include:

  • Different blocks/hours of tracks (such as having chill tracks at night, according to my time zone
  • Funny little bumpers to break up the tedium of one track after another
  • Hundreds and hundreds of more tracks in general

How can I listen to it?

Most modern browsers will allow you to listen to the stream in the program itself - just click on the link above.

As stated above, you can also take this link - http://69.164.201.26:8000/main - and plug it into media players like VLC, WinAmp, FooBar - even your PSP, if you have the know-how ;) - or any other software that allows you to connect to a media stream. I recommend this latter method, as those pieces of software can also display the track name and source.

The quality of the stream could be better?

That's hardly a question!! Do I look like I'm made of bandwith?!

Be sure to check out OverClocked Remix, where some of the songs on the station come from. Some of my favorites include The Impresario - basically the opera from Final Fantasy VI in the style of BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY of all things - and Her Smile in Every Summer, a light alt-rock adaptation of Outset Island from Wind Waker. Lots of real creative works on this site! And it's been around for a long time (as far as the internet goes), so it's also really cool to see how remixes and production techniques have evolved.
